Handcrafted from the rich red clay of Marrakech, these unique treasures and glazed with tadelakt. The age-old technique of tadelakt was born from a desire to protect the interior walls and surfaces of Moroccan hammams (public baths) from moisture and to keep them cool. The answer was an unusual clay-like glaze consisting of crushed eggshells among other things. This glaze not only held the water at bay, but was also uniquely beautiful. Tadelakt has a complex surface, much like marble or alabaster and is smooth to the touch.
