A string of red lip coral beads draws the eye to green turquoise nuggets spaced by more red lip coral chips and a hint of brown heishi shells. This necklace measures 18 inches in length and closes with a silver hook-and-eye clasp.
Born on the Navajo reservation in the Southwestern United States, artist Arlene Joe has created beadwork since she was 14 years old. A busy artist as well as a mother of seven, she travels to many shows throughout the United States.
