Brighten your home with this beautiful windowpane Shoji lamp, made in Southern China. Constructed of Ramin wood and rice paper, this lamp stands 18 inches tall x 8 inches wide. It comes with black, rosewood, or light brown wooden frames.
Rice paper is made by cutting the pith of a large herb (Fatsia papyrifera, related to the ginseng) into one roll or sheet, which is flattened out under pressure. Then handsome outlines of lamps are made with Ramin wood and the rice paper is glued to the wood, for light and beauty. China is one of the largest manufacturers of the rice paper goods that are being used all around the world, which provide employment opportunities for thousands in China.
