Bring the ancient world to life with these sterling silver and Roman glass earrings.
These elegant silver earrings sparkle with a myriad of pastel colors, making them an ideal spring accessory. Splendid shards of iridescent, high-quality, ancient Roman glass are set into these open-backed sterling ovals so that the light will shine through and bring out different highlights in the glass. Gracefully dangling down from the oval is an aquamarine disc sandwiched between two iolite beads.
A story card explains how color accumulates in Roman glass. The glass is regularly unearthed by archaeologists sifting through the remains of Roman Empire cities. Those shards without museum value may be bought by artisans.
These timeless earrings are made in a small studio near Haifa, Israel. Its eight members include Israelis, Bedouin women and Russian emigres--a small, multicultural community that has held together through the strife around them.

Clean the silver with a cloth, but try not to rub the ancient glass.
