This handcrafted beauty features cultured brown pearls, carnelian nuggets and Roman glass strung together on a lustrous sterling silver chain. The glass comes from archeological digs in Israel, where over the ages pressure and time has transformed it, creating unique colors and shapes. A story card is included with the piece, explaining the processes behind the ancient glass.
The piece was crafted in a studio near the town of Rananaa. Eastern European immigrants work alongside native born Israelites crafting unique jewelry. It is important with ancient Roman glass that it remains dry. Treat it with the respect its 2,000 year history deserves. Avoid showering or swimming with your jewelry on, and don't use hairspray near it. It's recommended that you refrain from touching it frequently as oils from your hands may alter the glass color and remove its luster. Clean the silver with a cloth, but try not to touch the glass.
