NYC HI Youth Hostel

The hostel was $29 a night (10 people in bunks per room, other types of rooms available). It was uptown near Central Park so it wasn't right near all the action, but was close to the subway and the price was right. Don't make the mistake I did in getting there: I took the green train which goes to the wrong side of Central Park..then I had to walk across Central Park in the dark to get there... The 4 story building was about half full. It was easy to meet people... I met people from Britain, India and other areas in Asia. The rooms were clean, although bathrooms were cleaner on lower levels (with private showers).
