Condolence messages such as “Love conquers Fear” & “We love Bali. Let’s Start Over Again” were everywhere. The burnt smell still lingered and I vaguely saw smoke rising from the remains. Shattered glass and emptied beer cans everywhere. Tourists were rooted and watched agape at the magnitude of devastation. It started to drizzle, it was as if tears from the sky were shed for those who perished. It was a sad moment for all. Despite all fears, the beauty of sunset at Kuta beach was hard to resist as sun-worshippers from all over the world gathered. With foamed waves lapping gently on the pristine sandy beach and coconut leaves tossing and dancing, we watched in awe as the sky, like a big magic canvas, displayed magnificent hues of gold, yellow, orange and red.
